University Credit Union was first established to serve the financial needs of the employees, faculty, students, and alumni at the University of Utah. Over the last 60 years, the credit union has worked with the university to provide more than just banking services; they have created scholarship funds, sponsored community events, and in 2016 they donated a brand new playing field open to all students!

The new “University Credit Union Playfield” is a regulation sized soccer pitch located at the top of a three story parking structure in the middle of campus. This unique intramural field was donated as a symbol of the credit union’s ongoing commitment to Utah and the university.

President and CEO, Jack Buttars, of University Credit Union stated at the ceremonial unveiling of the field,

“We are always happy to support education, and we relish our 60 years of history and tradition with the University of Utah. Creating a space where students are able to actively work together while engaging mind and body is a great way to bolster relationships as well as educational pursuits. We are proud to contribute and provide these great resources, and we feel it is a boon to the U campus and the entire Utah community.”

With more than 5,000 students participating in intramural and club sports annually at the University of Utah, the new UCU Playfield will continue to be a great resource for years to come. It is just one of the many ways that University Credit Union is committed to providing great experiences at the University of Utah.
